A few years ago, I was working as a office assistant 10 hrs a day. I hated it! We were trying to have a baby, but I was so stressed out that we couldn't conceive and I felt like I would never be able to change my life. After much praying and crying (sobbing, actually) I made the switch to a part-time job and started offering piano lessons in the evenings. It doesn't seem huge now, but back then we didn't know how we'd be financially impacted. It hurt, but we did it. Gulp. Then, when we were blessed with Owen I wanted to stay home with him. My husband (who grew up in a two income household) was really nervous. Gulp. Tauni is right: "If you're going to be poor, it's better to be poor when your kids are young and don't know any better." We have made sacrifices. We only have one car, don't eat out, no cable, goodwill for clothes...etc.
Anyways, I know you'll get there! I don't know if you're interested in this at all...but have you thought about nannying or a small daycare? A few of my piano student's moms stay home and make ends meet by watching kids. I am looking for someone to watch Owen for a few hours each day while I teach piano and I WISH I knew someone as sweet and trustworthy as you!!
Good luck!Pam R.https://www.blogger.com/profile/12208427731298243737noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6096381503445020983.post-82369797481024163652010-10-21T13:59:20.582-07:002010-10-21T13:59:20.582-07:00There are a handful of direct sales things you can...There are a handful of direct sales things you can do. (Scentsy, Pampered Chef, etc.) I sold Partylite candles for a while. It was ok. It's just hard being pushy for people to buy things. One thing to keep in mind is that if you take a break from work that doesn't mean that your schooling is going to waste, it's just waiting. I'm not working right now. One thing someone pointed out to me, "If you're going to be poor, it's better to be poor when you're kids are young and don't know any better." :) Just be in prayer, God can direct you.Taunihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12302656890390513344noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6096381503445020983.post-78905375927985433652010-10-21T11:49:42.320-07:002010-10-21T11:49:42.320-07:00I am currently trying to work from home. I guess one thing to remember is that if you start a home business it isn't going to make much (if any) money to start with. I am also thinking about starting a daycare but that might drive me crazy... Good luck :)
Jamie (via Violet's blog)Jamie Sauderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06850492511186764586noreply@blogger.com
